Friends of Selwyn School

Welcome to The Friends of Selwyn School (FOSS)

Every parent, carer and member of staff at the school is automatically a member of the association (which is informally known as FOSS or the PTA) and your friends and family are welcome to join too.  We hope that during your child’s time with the school you will enjoy being part of our community, attend our events and hopefully support FOSS and our fundraising efforts

The Friends of Selwyn School (FOSS) is a registered charity and exists to enhance the education of the children.  We raise money to help fund activities, facilities and equipment and run fun events to help develop relationships between school and home.

Please follow The Friends of Selwyn School (FOSS) on Facebook to hear all about our upcoming events: https://www.facebook.com/FOSS.selwyn/

Contributing to the school through FOSS

If you are unable to attend FOSS events but would like to contribute towards our fundraising efforts, we are pleased to announce that as a registered charity, we are able to accept one off or regular donations.

These can be made via online banking, with the payment going straight into the Friends of Selwyn School’s bank account, or as a cash or cheque donation which can be given in at the school office in an envelope marked for “The Treasurer of FOSS”.

Boost your donation! If you are a UK taxpayer, you can boost your donation by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you donate as we can reclaim Gift Aid from the Government - we just ask that you complete a very simple form which we can email to you or you can collect from the school office.  Donations can of course, be made anonymously if you prefer.

FOSS aims for the academic year 2019-2020

For the 2019/2020 academic year our primary fundraising objective is to contribute as much as we are able towards the cost of new playground equipment.

The school have an exciting and ambitious improvement plan for our outdoor space, and we would like donate money to the school to help towards the cost of these works.  We feel that this will benefit current and future Selwyn pupils and give enjoyment to many for years to come.

If you would like to support FOSS, you could contribute in the following ways as there are two aspects of FOSS:

1)    The Trust Board

This is a small group of individuals who manage the Charity.  They are all volunteers, but they accept full legal responsibility for the charity and ensure compliance with our constitution and all legislation.

2)    Our “family” of volunteers

This involves the wider community and our fantastic volunteers come in all guises; some bake delicious cakes for a coffee morning or a cake sale, others offer to face paint or do henna at the fete, run the bouncy castle or cook up a storm on the BBQ.  Others lend a hand with shopping and organising or help to build Santa’s Grotto at Christmas, some sell disco ticket or lend a hand clearing up at the end of our events.

We realise that time is precious but believe that if we all lend a lad it lightens the load for everyone – it’s also a great way to meet other members of the Selwyn community and its fun!

We are always grateful to each person who helps out, in whatever way they are able.  If you can lend a hand in any way please send us a message via Facebook, email us at foss.selwyn@gmail.com or stop for a chat in the playground – we really do look forward to your involvement.

You can also support FOSS while shopping online!

FOSS is registered with easyfundraising - it’s a great site where you can help us to raise funds simply by doing your everyday online shopping!

Over 3,600 big name retailers are included, such as Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, eBay, Boden and M&S.

Every time you shop, we receive a small donation to say, ‘thank you!’ It’s completely free and our supporters have helped raise over £460 (as at June 2019)

We want to raise as much as possible so please sign up and help us at:
